Почти пополам делится на две смысловые части: подробные рецензии на концерты/фестивали и интервью с группами. Причем, опрошены были как ветераны (старушка Беки Бондаж, Стив Лейк из Zounds), так и молодые дарования - ансамбли Skinfull (oi) и Eastfield (мелодично-энергично). Не был обойден вниманием и насущный вопрос: "Жив ли панк?"
Присутствует немного рецензий на аудионосители.

Несмотря на столь глубокий провинциализм, редакторы журнала были на волне событий, происходящих на мировой и британской мод-сцене. И это без всякого там Интернета!

Материал о старой группе the Small Faces из серии «Надо держаться корней».

Фанзин этот принадлежит к субкультуре модов и издавался двумя модниками - Дереком Шепардом и Джеки Митчемом. Они проживали на острове Гернси, находящемся в проливе Ла-Манш, ближе к побережью Северной Франции. Интересно, что эта территория является владением английской короны, но не входит в состав Великобритании. А у островитян в ходу сразу два языка - английский и французский. Соответственно, юным стилягам здесь необыкновенно повезло - до них одинаково быстро доходили и подробности последней парижской моды, и новинки лондонской рок-сцены.

Журнал "In the Crowd" выходил в первой половине 80-х. Дерек и Джеки успели выпустить 30 номеров, освещающих актуальные события британской и международной мод-сцены. К каждому выпуску прилагался флекси-диск, включавший обозреваемые группы.

В номере 6 за 1983 год есть информация о:

- старой британской ритм-энд-блюзовой группе the Artwoods;
- мод-сценах Франции, Бельгии, острова Джерси;
- новинках музыки и самиздата;
- восьмидесятнических ансамблях the Blades, the Truth, the Jet Set, the Gents, the Stand;
- заведении "The Blackbeat Soul Club";
- первом австралийском мод-alldayer.

This issue of the Financially Hard Times tells of the far flung future of 2022. The world has avoided total economic collapse by allowing Facebook to run everything, TV no longer exists because everyone just watches YouTube, and the only shops left are Subways (which sell alcohol!), Tescos (a supermarket chain), and Apple.

Each page features an illustration of the world of the future. There are Hollywood style signs promoting Facebook, corporate logos on everything, and general urban decay as every shop closes down.

The best joke is on the final page. It says that gravestones have been replaced with giant iPads which show your Facebook timeline: "Passers by can view past status' and browse through pictures of happier days". Terrifying, because it seems so possible.

I managed to get my mitts on another issue of Negative Reaction and a fine edition it is too. Jon Romney, Wendy Shock, Dave Burnett, Andrew Duncan, Chris Green and Jimmy Olsen offer up some decent interviews with The Clash, Richard Hell, Mink DeVille, and The Soft Boys - all accompanied with Chas Diamond, Ivor Fried, and Sheely Weels' snazzy photos.
